about
i wrote CROWN when i got kicked out of the coolest party at Yale. still drunk, a little hurt, and typing on my Notes app furiously. i’m a boy born in Lahore, Pakistan and raised on the city’s bickering lust, Lady Gaga and the androgyny of little kids.
CROWN is an oath and an anthem to that story. it is my dance manifesto for the losers, the queer kids, and the unbelieved of the world. it is the first single off my second upcoming project, ALTER - NATIVE.
lyrics
I'm dancing, i'm dancing, i'm dancing for us
I'm dancing, i'm dancing, i'm
I'm tryna be chill, aggressively
Check my highlight, we pretty team
Got all them clubs obsessed with me
Hehe, truly
You know when I pull up, show me the recipe
Don't embarrass yourself in front of me
You tried to make me drink, drank the bitch cup
This ain't a fuckin plan, you a hiccup
I plan all my records, sing fifty songs, smoke seventeen bowls, in just one hour of a day
Turn my game show on, in your party song, with my big mouth off 'cause they only hearsay
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Credit card mouth, don’t pay the bill, run it
Tried to fix my hair, ended up colouring
Shoot shit down 10x, mister what you earning
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Why won't you dance with the world on a visa
I'm tryna cause a commotion
Make ur ironic ass listen
Get up all up in ur cynicism bullshit
Become all of ur fucking business
I'm tryna get you hype, get u out of ur melo flow
Find you strangers, inspire you to get low
I talk about sincerity and clarity, wear skirts and you're mad at me
Drop acid, call it LSD
My academic remedy
The same words echo in your goddamn ear
I learn, don’t change my motto every year
I play world like GTA four, simulation zone, be the truth-teller, naked on my own
I’ll dance for freedom and prophetic bravery, i'll bum ur ciggies out for the sake of savoury
Grace in ur barred party, only cool kid club, never felt enough and you can’t really make me
You can’t really maaaaake me
Apology if honestly I know that i’m iconically
Bad at this, making friends anonymously
Disrespect androgynous shit, high heels prodigy bitch
I'm tryna make some FUSS
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Credit card mouth, don’t pay the bill, run it
Tried to fix my hair, ended up colouring
Shoot shit down 10x times, mister what you earning
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Why won't you dance with the world on a visa
Came in with the controversy, I got my own column
Watch these bad boys fight me, watch me fkn fall ‘em
I’m sorry i came on your lips, I put my name on your lips
Clean you mouth out bitch, it’s not a good fit
I'm sorry I came on your lips, I put my name on your lips
I think I’ll take my sermon back better serve it
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Credit card mouth, don’t pay the bill, run it
Tried to fix my hair, ended up colouring
Shoot shit down 10x, mister what you earning
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Credit card mouth, don’t pay the bill, run it
Tried to fix my hair, ended up colouring
Shoot shit down 10x, mister what you earning
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
Dancing with the world on a visa permit
I think I’ll take my sermon back better serve it

Zulfi is a one-boy dynamo. Grown gold in Pakistan, he now records his shiny, substantial alt-pop in a basement studio at
Yale, sourcing from dance flings, the legacy of Freddy Mercury, and a summery fuck-u energy. His words teethe on the grit of life lived young and collegiate. grounding himself in the familiarity of the post-party sidewalk, the knowledge that others are out there burning, too....more
